How BiteWise handles your information.

In short: we collect only what the app needs to track your meals. Meal photos are analyzed and then discarded. Your health data (steps, active calories) stays on your phone. We don't sell your data, show ads, or use tracking.

Last updated: October 15, 2026. This policy explains how BiteWise ("we"), operated by Jumpstart Creatives Inc, handles your information when you use the BiteWise app.

What we collect

What stays on your phone

Photos and AI

When you scan a meal or describe it in words, the photo or text is sent to an AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI) to estimate nutrition, then discarded — we don't store your photos. With free AI, requests go through our server; with your own key, they go directly from your phone to the provider. Providers process requests under their API terms, which don't use API data to train their models by default.

Service providers

We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't use advertising or analytics trackers.

Sharing you choose

Share cards (your day, week, streak or invite) are created on your phone and only shared when you tap Share.

Your choices and rights

Security and retention

Data is sent over encrypted connections, and each account can only access its own data. We keep your data while your account is active and delete it when you delete your account.

Children

BiteWise isn't directed to children under 13. Users under 18 only get maintenance-style targets.

Health disclaimer

BiteWise gives estimates for general information. It is not medical advice. Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before major diet changes.
